Description

Marie Boichu is a research fellow at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and affiliated with the Laboratoire d'Optique Atmosphérique at the University of Lille. She conducts interdisciplinary research on volcanic gas and particle plumes, at the interface between the disciplines of Volcanology/Solid Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. She specializes in remote sensing (ground-based and satellite) and atmospheric chemistry-transport modeling. She studies the multi-scale impacts of volcanism on the atmosphere, notably on air quality, air traffic safety and climate. This research also enables the evolution of volcanic activity to be monitored from space in times of crisis, for a better assessment of local hazards.
