Director

Description

A graduate of École Centrale Paris, specializing in Applied Mathematics, Patrick has over thirty years' experience in computer vision and machine learning, shared between public and private laboratories: Brown University as a postdoc, Inria as a PhD student and then researcher, for public institutions; and for industrial laboratories, Microsoft Research as a researcher, Technicolor as distinguished scientist and Valeo with the roles of scientific director and vice-president for AI. Over the course of his career, Patrick has explored diverse application fields (medical, film and media, automotive), analyzed signals from a variety of sensors (cameras, MRI, microphones, radar, laser scanners), and built and led several upstream research teams. Some of his most recent projects within the Valeo.ai team explore the in-vehicle deployment of 360-degree visual perception models based on transformers, or the generation of so-called counterfactual visual explanations to analyze camera-based autonomous driving systems.
